(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Selena Gomez loves Katy Perry, and was thrilled to work with her on her new album.
The singers group Selena Gomez & The Scene released their record A Year Without Rain this month, and Selena loves talking about it. Before the album was made public there was speculation a number of big name artists would be featured on it, including Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato.
The finished work actually includes a track with Katy called Rock God, which Selena says holds a special place in her heart. Katy Perry gave me a song called Rock God. It's one of my favourite songs ever. I actually had to fight for that song. I wanted it so bad. It's kind of funky, and I think I used her style and we kind of mixed it up with the producers that I worked with, so we made it a little bit more techno, she explained to MTV News. I just loved her style, and she did background vocals on that as well. So I was very, very blessed on the record, 'cause it's so much fun, and I can't wait to perform it.
Selena and Katy share a music agent, and Selena says shes always been a huge fan of the 25-year-olds. She enjoys going to see her in concert wherever possible, and had spoken to her at industry parties prior to working on Rock God.
Although they knew each other, the 18-year-old wanted to go about things the right way when she decided to try to collaborate with her. But when it came to music, I didn't want to get in personally. I was like, 'I'll ask through the proper channels and see if she'll give it to me,' and she was thrilled, so I was happy, Selena enthused. (C) Cover Media
