(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Selena Gomez says she "isn't an option" when it comes to starring alongside actors such as Leonardo DiCaprio.

The singer-and-actress is best known for playing Alex Russo in the Emmy Award-winning Disney Channel TV series Wizards of Waverly Place. She has also ventured into feature films including Monte Carlo and has starred in Another Cinderella Story, Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie, and Princess Protection Program.

Selena, 18, realises she has to fight for film roles, now that her Disney safety net has gone.

"I'm in a very crucial spot. It's like starting over," she mused in an interview with Teen Vogue. "I was trying to explain it to one of my friends, and he said, 'You'll be fine. People believe in you.' But when they're putting together a movie with Leonardo DiCaprio, I don't think they're going to go, 'Selena Gomez would be great for this!' I'm not an option. It's humbling, having to go from this Disney high back down to having to fight for roles."

Selena has a legion of loyal followers. The brunette beauty always keeps her young fans in mind, and would never take a role that would alienate them.

"I just wouldn't want to do anything that might make them uncomfortable," she explained. (C) Cover Media
