Sex sells believes Mahesh Bhatt

4th November 2012

Most of India's erotic thrillers come from the Bhatt Productions. The banner which has presented various forms of love through their multiple films, takes pride in the fact that they are successfully managing to cater erotic love stories to the Indians.

"Indians love sex. They love everything related to sex and the box office collections of our films like 'Raaz', 'Murder' and 'Jism' speak for themselves. 'Jism 2' which was made on a 6-crore budget, did business of 36 crore in its opening weekend itself. We have made a bunch of serious films as well like Awarapan and Jashn, but they flopped. This proves that we Indians love erotica", said Mahesh Bhatt.

The filmmaker who has not directed a single film in the last few years, claims that  the audiences today would not like to see his kind of cinema. He who has given hits like 'Arth', 'Daddy', 'Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin' and more, is only into production these days.

He claims that time has changed and he has moved on with it. "Don’t compare my films that were made in 80’s and 90’s and the kind of films that my production house now makes. When I made films, they were a reflection of that era. My films were rooted in that culture at that time. However today as a producer, I make films that cater to my constituency of young people, my target audience that belong to an under-25 age group", added Mahesh Bhatt.

Seems like the producer is too obssessed with fulfilling the needs of his audiences.
