The country singer was thrilled when the Swiss-born Nestle businessman asked her to marry him around two months ago, a representative has confirmed to US Weekly. It is believed the proposal took place in Switzerland and Frederic had been planning it for months.

Fred is a hopeless romantic, so it was done in a very special way, a friend of the stars told the publication. "I've never seen Shania so happy. She has ended up with the love of her life.

Frederic reportedly presented Shania with a $100,000 three-carat, emerald cut diamond ring which he had helped to design.

Shania was left heartbroken when her then-husband Robert John Mutt Lange allegedly had an affair with one of the stars best friends and house manager, Marie-Anne Thiebaud, and left her in 2008.

However, the 45-year-old singer is now said to be happier than ever after falling in love with Frederic who was married to Marie-Anne.

Shania was spotted in New York last week sporting a huge engagement ring and laughing and joking with 40-year-old Frederic.

The couple confirmed they were dating in August 2009, when Shania called Frederic a dear friend and a true gentleman.
