Shraddha Kapoor who learnt basketball for her upcoming movie 'Half Girlfriend' opposite Arjun Kapoor is now all set to play the lead role of Badminton queen Saina Nehwal in her biopic which is titled as 'Saina.' Rumours were round the corner that Deepika Padukone will play the titular role of Saina, but Shraddha has confirmed through her Twitter handle that she will be the one to play the character.

She tweeted a picture of Saina and captioned it as "SAINA NEHWAL - The former World no 1 badminton player. An Indian girl. An inspiration to millions. A youth icon in the truest sense. @NSaina." She later confirmed her role in series of tweets.

"Her journey to the top has been fascinating & I am honored to be given this opportunity to play her in my next film 'SAINA'."

"The preparation for this film is going to be very, very challenging. It's probably going to be my most difficult film till date" she tweeted.

'Saina' will be directed by Amole Gupte and is produced by T-Series.
