(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Simon Cowell has gushed about Britney Spears saying that she "fascinates" him.

The US X Factor judge told Access Hollywood's Billy Bush that he is still looking for replacement judges for the singing competition programme and thinks Britney would be a great addition.

Simon fired Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger from the panel earlier this month and says the Hit Me Baby One More Time star has the "star power" for the show.

"I'm fascinated by [Britney]," the British media mogul said. "The fact that she's one of the most talked about not just pop stars but people in the world today, means that you've got this star power."

Simon would not reveal which celebrities were currently in negotiations with the show executives but said he would be very happy if Britney was chosen.

"This girl has got resilience," he said. "I would think that if she's managed to sustain a family, a career, which is tough, [the show would be] a walk in the park.

"I would be fascinated to hear what she had to say. She's still hot, she's still having hit records and she's still controversial, there's a reason for that."

Last week it was reported Britney is keen to appear on the show.

Simon also addressed rumours that Janet Jackson is another favourite in the running for the high-profile job.

"Would she be a good judge? Yes," Simon revealed.

He added that there would be "much more emphasis on the contestants this year" and that they are "making a new show" after the first season had disappointing ratings. (C) Cover Media
