(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Slash says one of his favourite movies is A Clockwork Orange, but not because of the "sex and violence".
The former lead guitarist of rock band Guns N' Roses says Anthony Burgess' novel A Clockwork Orange, which was made into a cult film by Stanley Kubrick, had a big impact on the way he viewed society as a child.
The legendary musician appreciated the deeper meaning of the book and accompanying film rather than the violent nature of the storyline.
"I loved the movie when I was a kid so my dad gave me the book and it's still one of my favourites," he said. "It wasn't the sex and the violence it was the dialogue and the way it was written. And the fact that Alex and the droogs were all young and seemingly very powerful in the adult world."
Slash has also revealed Patsy Stone from British TV show Absolutely Fabulous was his "hero".
Despite having a penchant for informative documentaries, the 45-year-old was also a big fan of the sitcom starring Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley.
Slash says Patsy, portrayed by Joanna, was his idol because of her colourful character. Patsy was renowned for her love of smoking cigarettes, partying and drinking alcohol.
"I watch a lot of science and nature programmes on the National Geographic and Discovery channels. For a long time my favourite TV programme was Absolutely Fabulous but that's long been out of syndication!" he explained in an interview with NME. "Patsy was my hero. I don't think I need to go into detail about why, but in the 90s, Patsy was my role model." (C) Cover Media
