Sofia Coppola: I dont do bling

16th December 2010

(Cover) - EN Star Style - Sofia Coppola doesnt like super-glitzy clothes.

The American actress-and-director is famed for helming a series of impressive movies, such as 2003s Lost in Translation. She knows being in the industry means she has to take a certain amount of interest in how she looks, but refuses to get too obsessed by her appearance. Sofia favours classic tailoring and simple lines, and shies away from anything too fussy.

I like beautiful things. I like photography, well-made clothes. I appreciate creativity, she explained. I tend to like things that are more simple and classic. Not super-glitzy, I guess. I wouldnt describe my aesthetic as bling.

Sofias laidback approach to fashion has made her something of a style icon, a title which sits uncomfortably with her. She refuses to accept it, as she thinks she looks so different to the woman whose dress sense she admires.

I dont think of myself in the way I think of Tina Chow or Diana Vreeland or someone I thought was stylish when I was a kid. I dont think about it, she told Vogue magazine. (C) Cover Media
