Sridevi goes back to her roots, signs a Tamil film

Veteran Bollywood actress Sridevi started off her career as an actress by doing South Indian films. She made her debut as a child artist at the age of four in the South Indian Film Industry and she continued to work in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films.

Post that she made her Hindi debut as a child artiste in the hit 1975 film, 'Julie', and played her first major role at the age of 13 in the Tamil film 'Moondru Mudichu'. She continued doing films in Bollywood but took a sabbatical due to her family duties.

Sridevi made her comeback with a Bollywood film titled 'English Vinglish' that released in 2013. Despite of being flooded with offers, the actress chose not to do any film until recently when she signed a Tamil film.

Though there were rumours, she never went on the record to confirm the same. However, she finally broke the news on social media where she announced her comeback to Tamil films.

She stars in a fantasy drama titled 'Puli', with this she returns to the Tamil film industry after a gap of more than two decades. "It gives me immense happiness to announce the title of my new Tamil film PULI. It’s been a wonderful experience working with the cast & crew (sic)". she posted on Twitter.

The powerhouse performer plays Hansika Motwani's mother in the film, which also stars Shruti Haasan.
