Sun Pictures, the film production and distribution branch of media giant Sun TV Network, was about to release Vikram's next film Rajapattai. However, according to sources, Sun Pictures has backed out of the project, due to certain "unavoidable reasons". Now, producer Prasad V Potluri of PVP Cinemas will release the movie in the last week of December.

Directed by Suseenthiran, Rajapattai, believed to be a commercial potboiler, will make it to the cinema halls during Christmas holidays. Yuvanshankar Raja has composed the music and the audio is expected to be launched soon.

Vikram said, "I wanted to gift a full-fledged entertainer to my fans, as they were seeing me in off-beat roles in the recent years. Rajapattai will fulfill their expectations and my thanks to Suseenthiran for shaping it up as an interesting flick in all aspects."
