Sunny Leone gets candid about 'Mastizaade'

27th January 2016

Sunny Leone, Vir Das and Tusshar Kapoor starrer upcoming comedy 'Mastizaade' is riding high on expectations and anticipations off late and recently we happened to get up, close and personal with the leading lady Sunny for an interview on the film and being the frank and outspoken actress that she is, Sunny got really candid and here's what she had to say.

What made you sign the film?

"Rangita and Milap just took a chance and said we want to meet with Daniel my husband. He does all the business, he is the creative and he does all the business so they met with daniel. daniel is a big fan of comedies and he is a big fan of like the Jennifer Aniston types, Ethan Miller you know some of these comedies in the US. So when once Milap gave the narration of the first half to Daniel, he was laughing so much and this is the only time this ever happened and he told me to come upstairs and said you have to listen to this story and he told it to me. This type of comedy is something that I havent seen before, in the US you know this is very common, you know double meaning stuff, something which is so outrageous and crazy which also makes it funny. You know Ethan Miller is a super funny movie and when you hear about those actors, you are like o my gosh "usne yeh kiya, usne woh kiya" you watch the movie for what it's for and you have fun with it and you laugh and you know what you remember later maybe or you dont, you go back and say it's nothing too serious. So for me I thought I dont look at those actors like Cameron Diaz or Jennifer Aniston who make these types of movies all the time. I just need to think of them as being very funny. So for me it wasnt a hard decision, since its a comedy I never made before."

Which character is more close to the real life Sunny?

"Aa it would be Lilly. For everybody else it will be Laila. For all of India, Laila is who they think Sunny is but anybody who actually knows me, who spends over some time with me knows that im more closer to Lilly."

Who is the prankster amongst yourself, Tusshar and Vir?

"Aaa I don't remember anybody pulling like pranks on people but it was more aa everybody had just so much fun shooting together. What I see in a movie like this is your level of open mindedness, you have so much more freedom because I mean you are talking about adult material, you know you are doing these dialogues which are out there, I mean outrageous dialogues which someone has created in his beautiful mind and the level of being able to just be free and being able to talk about what you want at that second and not think about it is possible even for them, even for Rangita, even for Milap and even for everybody who came on the sets. You know there is no censorship on the set you know. This is was one of those sets which made it really easy to work together so I don't know about who played the pranks, we just had so much fun all day long."

What is your favourite scene and dialogue in the film?

"My favourite dialogue and scene is where Laila discovers that woh jo kar rahi hai is not working, so she has to think of a new way how to get Tusshar so Laila is after Tusshar and Vir's character is after Lilly, so she has a fear of say, "ab mujhe woh karna hoga jo maine kabhi kiya nahi" and she wakes up the next day she does this remake of baby doll. She is covered from head to toe in a sari and they all wake up and Im doing this. It's my favourite scene which they havent put in any promo."

How was your experience working with Milap Zaveri?

"Working with Milap was so much fun. He is somebody that I really do care about and I believe that I have really made a friend for life. He is caring, he is nice, he is hard working, he knows what he wants and he is someone that every single night after working 10,12,14, 16 hours a day we would be working and we would also have dinner together and he is somebody that I hope and really pray that he gets everything that he wants in his life. He's had a lot of ups, he's had a lot of downs and I know for him this movie means everything to him."
