Tabu's next challenge of playing the role of a mother comes with Nishikant Kamat's remake of Malayalam hit 'Drishyam'.
She will be playing a powerful female antagonist of a senior police officer, who goes all out to save her son from the law, after he shoots a young girl's video in a compromising position.
According to the storyline, her on screen son is later murdered and buried secretly by the wronged girl's father and she is shown fighting for the justice.
Throughout the film, her character will involve in a sparring battle with Ajay Devgn.
Sources reveal that it was really a task for Vishal Bhardwaj to convince her to play Shahid's mother in 'Haider'.
A source says, "It wasn't easy to convince Tabu. When Vishal offered her the powerful mother's role, Tabu refused outright. Vishal argued that this was no ordinary mother's role. It was Shakespeare's Hamlet and she was playing Gertrude the second-most important character in the story. But Tabu was completely against it. Vishal had to spend a lot of time convincing her to do the role until she finally said yes."
