Taylor Swift has invited a teenage leukemia patient to be her date at the Academy of Country Music Awards.
Kevin McGuire is an 18-year-old New Jersey high school football player and recently suffered a relapse from the disease. He expressed his wish for the songstress to be his prom date to family and friends.
Kevin's sister Tori then created a Facebook page titled "Taylor Swift Take Kevin McGuire to Prom".
The page received nearly 100,000 likes and thousands of tweets were generated on Twitter in order to ensure Taylor received the invite.
Taylor got the message and issued a request of her own, OK! Magazine reports.
"Kevin, I'm so sorry but I won't be able to make it to your prom. But I was wondering, the ACM Awards are coming up.. Would you be my date? Love, Taylor. [sic]" the singer posted on her Facebook page last Friday.
Unsurprising, Kevin gladly accepted.
The student was diagnosed with leukemia five years ago and has been in remission since 2010. His recent relapse made him worry that no one would want to be his prom date because his hair will be falling out as a result of chemotherapy.
Taylor will grace the red carpet with Kevin at the 47th Academy of Country Music Awards on April 1.
The ceremony will be held in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
