The Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) has come to the help of Karan starrer Thambi Vettothi Sundaram, which is facing troubles from a Kanyakumari based organisation, for "allegedly" portraying the region and its people in a "bad light".
Talking to journalists in Chennai on Wednesday after watching the film, the council's treasurer Kalaipuli S Thanu said, "There is no scene in Thambi Vettothi Sundaram hurting the sentiments of Kanyakumari people. We request those opposing the movie to drop their protests understanding the fact that their region has been in fact been glorified in the movie.'
Karan's long pending flick Thambi Vettothi Sundaram is directed by Vadivudayan, a former associate of ace filmmaker Shaji Kailash.
The movie is based on a real life character Vettothi Sundaram, who is said to be a bootlegger and a controversial person from a place called Kulesekaram. It is learnt that some of his associates are still at large to the police.
While Karan plays the lead protagonist Vettothi Sundaram, Anjali plays his love interest Lourd Mary (also based on a real life character). The unit faced innumerable problems from a few people while shooting in Nagercoil.
Finally after its completion the film and got an ‘A’ certification from censor board. But yet again the movie is emroiled in controversy.
