January 15, 2011 (Sampurn Wire): Just when we started adoring Toby Maguire as the friendly superhero, Spiderman, there was news of the series being rebooted. The new film has Andrew Garfield in the title role. The first look has been released by Sony now.
We see a sad and lean Garfield walking down a street with his head bowed. His school bag does not escape our eyes. The motive of rebooting the series becomes evident to us. The makers wanted to show, how the superhero developed his skills during high school.
Sony Pictures Entertainment said that the film is currently under production and is set to hit the theaters in July 2012. It will be a 3D film, much to the delight of the viewers. The new film has Marc Webb in the directors chair and also stars Rhys Ifans, Emma Stone and the Indian actor Irrfan Khan.
Andrew Garfield is thrilled to sport spandex for the next few months and don on the role of the iconic Spiderman. He admitted that playing the superhero is nothing less than a dream and a fantasy for him. He feels extremely lucky to have been chosen for the role.
We had got glimpses of Garfield and Emma Stone from the film before, but this is the first time, we got to see how Garfield looks as the new spidey.
According to reports, the Spiderman costume has undergone a few changes too. The design on the sleeves is slightly different and the symbol of the spider in front has been made lean and long.
