Tigmanshu excited for 'Shaukeen'

27th September 2014

Filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia has already proved his mettle in filmmaking and with a couple of supporting roles he has won brownie points for acting as well.

But with the film 'Shaukeen', he has ventured into the zone of script writing. Though he has penned screenplays before, he is trying his hand at writing script for the first time for the remake of Basu Chatterjee's 1982 classic 'Shaukeen' which has been titled as 'The Shaukeens' for the modern release.

Talking about the experience, Tigmanshu states the following. "The original Shaukeen has been one of my favourite films and to adapt it to present times, with an accomplished ensemble of actors, was a challenge," he said. The film has Akshay Kumar playing the lead and Tigmanshu had words of praise for him.

"It was great on Akshay's part to play something so off the tangent. I don't think any actor in our industry has played such a role before," he said. Akshay too claims that Tigmanshu was a delight to work with. "I have always admired his work and feel proud to collaborate with someone so talented," he added.

The film's director, Abhishek Sharma added some more trivia to the talks when he revealed that Tigmanshu is not only his senior in the industry but they go back a long way. "Tigmanshu was my senior in my drama school in Delhi. So, I could relate to his working style. The humour in the script shows a completely different side of him," he said.

The theatrical trailer of the film is slated to be released today while the film hits the screens on November 7.
