Tom Cruise is a "rock star" says Adam Anders, the executive music producer of new movie Rock of Ages.

The producer visited Tom at his home to hear him song.

Adam was stunned by Tom's incredible performance and truly believes he may embark on a new career in music.

"Tom Cruise is mind blowing. I mean, he's a rock star," he told E! "I think he's a heartbeat away from going on tour."

Tom will star in the musical film alongside Alec Baldwin and Julianne Hough.

Adam, who is also head of music on the hit TV show Glee, was thrilled to discover the actor's hidden talent.

"I went to his house and he was like, 'I won't commit [to being in Rock of Ages]. I need to know if I can do this. He's not a musician obviously, but his pipeshis vocal cordswere stunning. I was like, 'This is crazy. We're Golden '"

Tom is currently promoting his latest film Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol.

Jeremy Renner stars alongside him in the film, which has led to speculation that Jeremy may be on his way to becoming the next Tom.

However, producer J.J. Abrams confirmed that the two actors are very different.

"Renner is not going to be the new Tom Cruise," he declared. "He's going to be Renner and Renner's awesome." (C) Cover Media
