(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Tom Cruise wants his daughter to have a "normal" upbringing.

The actor was thrilled to be reunited with six-year-old Suri this week for the first time since Katie Holmes filed for divorce last month. Tom doesn't want Suri's life to be too disrupted by the split.

"He's going to try, despite all the attention, to have things be as normal as possible," a source told People.

Tom has been making the most of his time with Suri and the pair have been seen in New York City.

Us Weekly reports that Tom took the little girl to East Hampton for a mini "beach vacation".

They spent a few hours by the sea before Tom chartered a helicopter back to the city.

The 50-year-old star is determined to remain a hands-on dad despite the breakdown of his marriage.

"He adores Suri, but now he's afraid he won't be able to have a close relationship with her," a source told the publication.

Meanwhile, Katie has landed a role in a Broadway show. The actress will star in a production of Dead Accounts, opening this autumn at the Music Box Theatre in New York City. (C) Cover Media
