Tough decision by TFPC

26th March 2012

The Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC), following its tiff with the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI), has instructed producers not to start any new films till April 30.

In a notification issued today (Monday), the TFPC, which is planning to start a new association for workers on May 1, said producers should not hold the pooja of any new movie till April 30. 'They can start their projects on or after May 2, by roping in members of new association.'

The notification further said that there would not be any curfew on the shootings of ongoing projects. 'But producers of ongoing films too should appoint workers from the new organisation from May 2,' read the announcement.

A tussle between TFPC and FEFSI brewed during the talks between the two over fixing of new wages. Following this, the Producers Council last week announced to start a new association for workers, while the FEFSI said the TFPC's attempt to break FEFSI would not succeed.
