January 14, 2011 (Sampurn Wire): The buzz is that Disney is planning to give a green signal to the Tron Legacy sequel. When released, it failed to capture the audience as it was expected but at present it has accumulated $300 million worldwide and Walt Disney Pictures are considering the decision to unravel a more complex world of games and programs for its sequel.
The Tron Legacy was a sequel of the 1982 flick Tron, which had Jeff Bridges in the lead as Kevin Flynn. In 2010 flick Sam played by Garrett Hedlund becomes the protagonist, the son of Kevin. Sam in Tron Legacy is drawn into the gaming world of gladiators and programs and embarks on the journey to find his father. Kevin has been living there for past 25 years, and while this may not have met the expected business initially, it seems people are still interested to buy the science-fiction DVDs and make some money for the production house.
The earlier it was reported that the Lost writer/co-executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kistsis was roped in to write the sequel of the films, however, no official confirmation about it was received. On the other hand, Olivia Wilde as Quorra in the Tron Legacy said that she would be thrilled to play her character in the human world and compares the role that Daryl Hannah played in 1980s comedy Splash. She is too like the fans of Tron is looking forward to another new chapter in the Tron Legacy.
