SRK honoured with Crystal Award at World Economic Forum Meeting

King Khan of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan has been honoured with the Crystal Award by Hilde Schwab, Chairperson and Co-Founder of Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos.

The 52-year-old actor has joined the likings of Amitabh Bachchan, Mallika Sarabhai, Shabana Azmi after receiving the prestigious Crystal Award which is honoured for the individual who impacted for the improvisation or the welfare of the world economically.

SRK was felicitated with this award for his initiative in championing children and women's rights in India. Shah Rukh Khan has been working with women who have been victims of acid attack through his NGO- Meer Foundation.

On receiving the award Shah Rukh tweeted, "Thank u for this honour. I consider my work with these heroic & beautiful women a great privilege as it imparts dignity & purpose to my life. I hope to spread awareness of the unparalleled heroism of these ladies & reach out to others in order to carry this work to its conclusion." 

Shah Rukh Khan gave a speech after receiving the award. He talked about his contribution and about the acid attack victims. He also congratulated Elton John and Cate Blanchett who were also honoured with the Crystal Award for their work in the fight against HIV/AIDS and raising awareness of the refugee crisis respectively.
