(Cover) - EN Star Style - Vanessa Hudgens has revealed she used to hide behind her long hair.

The 22-year-old actress is famed for her flowing brunette mane. Vanessa has admitted she used to use her long locks as a way of staying inconspicuous. She says that having long hair is an easy way of hiding, especially if youre physically small.

Long hair is very easy to hide behind," she explained. "Going out on the street, I can put my hair in front of my face and duck around because I'm really small (5ft 3in), she told USA today.

Since cutting off her hair, the beauty has revealed she has a new found sense of confidence. She says that she no longer feels like her hair is a safety net protecting her from people seeing who she really is. The actress now wants to be taken more seriously as she is starring in a couple of films this month, and wants the audience to see her differently.

"I cut off about a foot of my hair, so it's harder now, she explained. With two movies coming out this month, I want to give people the opportunity to truly see me differently. Now I have a new sense of confidence. I don't have a mane to hide behind."

Vanessa is starring in upcoming movie Beastly which is a modern take on Beauty and the Beast. She can also be seen as an action heroine trapped in a mental asylum in soon-to-be-released Sucker Punch. (C) Cover Media
