Akshay Kumar and martial arts are synonyms of Bollywood and now Varun Dhawan will soon join the bandwagon. The 'Main Tera Hero' star is approached to play the title role in a film based on martial arts.

It's a tale about a young man who is a die hard follower of kung fu flicks and sticks to its rules. However his life goes upside down when he discovers that he may never become a hero.

A source says, "Varun was completely bowled over when he read the script. He is the apt choice for the role. Given his commercial viability today he can ensure more visibility for this offbeat subject."

Vasan Bala who assisted Anurag Kashyap for 'Dev D' and 'Gulaal', will direct Varun in this film. Even though the director confirmed about the news, the actor chose to remain mum on it.

"I can't talk about this as I haven't signed the film. It wouldn't be ethical," said Varun.
