7th May 2014

One of India's finest stand up comedians, Vir Das is slowly and steadily scaling new heights in his alternate career as an actor. He who started with supporting roles in films like 'Love Aaj Kal' and 'Badmaash Company', is currently doing full-fledged roles in films.

After doing parallel lead roles in films like 'Go Goa Gone', he played Kangana Ranaut's love interest in the recently released 'Revolver Rani'. And now the comedian turned actor has as many as six films lined up for release in the next 15 months.

Next in the pipeline is 'Amit Sahni Ki List' that has him playing the perfect lover boy. "It's a fun character that takes the search for true love a little too seriously,” says Vir about the mentioned film which releases on July 18.

Also, not many know that soon he will venture into filmmaking as he will be co-producing his next with Nikhil Advani.

Apart from doing mainstream films, Vir is also doing some serious cinema. He has also been signed to star in National Award winning director Shivaji Patil's film titled '1984', which is based on the Sikh riots.

Following this, he has films like 'Khanna Pate', 'Santa Banta' and 'Saxx Ki Dukkaan'.

Vir exclaims that he is happy with the kind of variety of work he is getting. "I'm used to getting comedy scripts every week; it's nice to see dramatic work coming in. I'll admit it's tougher reading, but it’s great to get into this new zone as an actor. This is the beginning of an important career change; I want to pick up the right stuff. I am shooting non-stop till the end of the year before we start the film with Nikhil, so I want to get some good releases before putting my first original idea out there," he said.
