'Besharam' were released and everyone was surprised to see
Ranbir Kapoor's character name in the movie being rechristened to 'Babli'.
Earlier when the movie was introduced to the media, it was informed that Ranbir's character (a car theif) will be called 'Pepsi' in the film.
Insiders had also reported that Pepsi had signed a big contract with 'Besharam' as the leading character of the movie was going to have the brand name.
However, after seeing the first look of the movie, Pepsi officials called the deal off as they did not want their brand to be associated with a thief.
Also, 'Pepsi' is always positioned as the brand for the classes and Besharam is a very down market movie hence the 'brand-fit' didn't make sense.
Ranbir's absence from the first look launch event was questionable and many felt it had something to do with the 'Pepsi' walkout.
