Nominated for the 'Best Playback Singer Award' at the age of 16, for the song "Ruki Ruki" from 'Mast', Sunidhi Chauhan engulfed herself into Bollywood like no other singer!
Young, versatile, lively and vibrant, Sunidhi Chauhan took Bollywood in a wiff with her contribution to Indian cinema music!
Sunidhi Chauhan is best known for her Hindi film songs, but she has also recorded songs for Punjabi, Marathi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Bhojpuri, Bengali, Assamese and Gujarati films.
Sunidhi Chauhan who turns 29 today, began to sing at the age of four and was discovered by a local TV anchor. She received great recognition through a televised singing contest, Meri Awaz Suno, which she won, and made her entrance into playback singing with the Hindi film Shastra.
Her breakthrough was Ram Gopal Varma's film Mast, in which she sang the hit song, "Ruki Ruki Si Zindagi". She has been nominated for fourteen Filmfare Awards, winning it on two occasions as well as bagging a Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent. She has won two Star Screen Awards, two IIFA Awards and one Zee Cine Award.
Working with the top notch music directors including A. R. Rahman, Anu Malik, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Pritam Chakraborty, Rajesh Roshan, Nadeem-Shravan, Vishal-Shekhar and others, Sunidhi Chauhan has made her mark on fame at a very early point in her career.
Chauhan is one of the few female singers of the present generation who has lent her voice for most of the leading actressess in the Hindi entertainment industry, among those include Aishwarya Rai, Kareena Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Konkona Sen Sharma.
She has also sung for actresses of yester year cinema, such as Rekha. She was the main singer who lent voice for the comebacks of two leading Bollywood actresses; Kajol, in the movie (Fanaa), and Madhuri Dixit (Aaja Nachle).
In 2011, Chauhan got her breakthrough in the international pop world, collaborating with international pop star Enrique Iglesias for the Hindi version of the song Heartbeat and with that our Birthday girl becomes the first Indian female singer for an international collaboration.
