With zero competition, 'Dabangg' to rock in second week too

16th September 2010

September 16, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Just about everything is fitting in so very well for 'Dabangg' currently. Such strong has been the craze for the film that every notable film maker has steered away from arriving anywhere in close vicinity. While Karan Johar had decided to pre-pone his 'We Are Family' by a week to avoid a heads-on clash, others wisely stayed away from a long margin.

This means that there is no notable Hindi film which is releasing this week, hence giving 'Dabangg' yet another open week to enjoy. A small time film titled 'Life Express' arrives but zero promotion and lack of star value means that it would go totally unnoticed.

There are a couple of non-Bollywood films releasing this week but none are expected to make any impact whatsoever theatrically. 'For Real' is an English film with actors from Indian origin and is basically arriving after a round of festival circuits. There are also chances of another English film 'A Distant Mirage', which again comprises of Indian origin actors, finding a show or two in some theaters.

The common factors between both the films are that 1) they arrive with zero promotion, 2) they are art house cinema, 3) they are expected to tell a serious tale, 4) they have titles that don't give any indication of what they are all about and 5) they have absolutely no chance to make any impact at the box office.

All of this means that 'Dabangg' would continue making a huge impact for second week in succession. With nothing coming it's way to break the 100 crores barrier, it won't quite complain and make way for 'Anjaana Anjaani' that brings on something different for audience to relish next week.
