Come September 1st, when the whole of India would be celebrating Vinayaka Chathurthi, the celebrations and joy would be double in maestro Ilaiyaraaja’s house, as his younger son and popular music composer Yuvanshankar Raja, will enter wedlock.

Yuvan will tie the knot with girlfriend Shilpa, who is a doctor, at a simple yet solemn ceremony, at the renowned Lord Venkateswara temple atop Tirumala hills in Tirupati, according to sources very close to the family.

“It will be a very simple wedding which is to be attended only by the family members. A grand reception will be hosted at a popular hotel in Chennai the next day (September 2nd), to which friends, colleagues and family members will be invited,” they say.

Going down memory lane, sources add: “Yuvan, who married Sujaya in the early 2000’s, divorced her a few years ago due to differences of opinion. Recently, he met Dr. Shilpa and both fell in love with each other. Coming to know of the affair, their parents have arranged for the wedding.”
