24th December 2018

Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah had surrounded himself in the midst of controversy by his recent comments. The actor spoke about the recent killing of a policeman in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh, Shah said that the death of a cow has been given more importance over the killing of a policeman in the country.

Many trolled Shah for being so vocal all of a sudden right before elections, while some claimed that where was the fear back then when Gulshan Kumar was murdered and Daud Ibrahim was in Mumbai. Although Pakistan's PM Imran Khan took advantage and made a statement saying we will teach the Narendra Modi govt. how to treat the minorities. Well, Naseer had a mouth shutting reply for the Pakistani PM.

Making a public statement Naseeruddin Shah said, "I think Mr Khan should be walking the talk in his own country instead of commenting on issues that don't concern him. We have been a democracy for 70 years and we know how to look after ourselves."

Naseeruddin Shah had an interactive video where he openly spoke about his views. In the video, he said, "It will be very difficult to capture this djinn back into the bottle again. There is complete impunity for those who take law into their own hands...I feel anxious for my children because tomorrow if a mob surrounds them and asks, 'Are you a Hindu or a Muslim?' they will have no answer. It worries me that I don't see the situation improving anytime soon."
