Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor's 'Stree' enters 100cr club

Amar Kaushik directorial horror-comedy 'Stree' featuring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead was off to a flier since the day of its release. Now the film has achieved a milestone and crossed the 100 cr club in the third week of its release.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the news and tweeted, "And #Stree hits a century... Crosses ₹ 100 cr mark... [Week 3] Fri 2.14 cr, Sat 3.76 cr. Total: ₹ 101.43 cr. India biz... This one’s a LOTTERY for its investors."  Indeed a lottery for the makers and the film drive the audiences with a fresh flavour of horror and comedy blended neatly; boosted by the word of mouth publicity. 

With this Dinesh Vijan's 'Stree' becomes the ninth film of 2018 to enter the 100 cr club. The powerhouses that earned more than Rs 100 crore in 2018 are 'Padmaavat', 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety', 'Raid', 'Baaghi 2', 'Raazi', 'Race 3', 'Sanju' and 'Gold'.

Talking about the film's success Rao said, "The unique combination of horror and comedy, coupled with the sincerity with which we made this film worked in its favour. It's a good sign for our cinema; it shows that the audience is ready to welcome different content."

It took eight years and more than 20 films for Rao to enter in the 100 cr club.
