The film that was initially slated to release on March 7 (tomorrow) has now been put on hold till May 8.
The Delhi High Court has released a stay order on the film as real-life 'Gulabi Gang' leader Sampat Pal moved to court for a restraining order citing copyright issues.
According to Sampat, the makers of the film have not asked for her permission before making the movie.
Madhuri Dixit, who plays the protagonist in the film is shown leading a group of pink sari clad women who fight for women rights, similar to that of Sampat Pal in real life.
The producers of the film argued that Sampat Pal's intention from the start was to derail the film's release at the last moment as she took no action between the sending of a cease and desist notice in June 2013 to the filing of the plea to stay the release now.
The producers offered to run a disclaimer at the start of the film specifying that the incidents depicted in it are not related to Pal. However, Pal refused.
The verdict of this case remains to be seen.
