20 Cuts For Sangeeth Sivan's Film

2nd September 2010

September 2, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Renowned director Sangeeth Sivan's first venture as producer with the movie film '3 32 Mumbai To India, has undergone lots of cuts in dialogues to get a Censor Board certificate.

Sivan claimed the movie to be a realistic one, which has been inspired by the Rahul Raj BEST bus encounter case in October 2008. The Mahesh Pande directed movie was edited several times after it was watched by the Censor Board.

A source was quoted saying that the film got the censor certificate after more than a month. Producer Sivan and Director Pande tried hard against every cut but later they had to accept the 20 dialogue cuts in the film and used beep or mute for the names of many famous people, the source added. It said that the names included prominent personalities like Raj Thackeray, Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Ambanis.

All the names mentioned here, have been deleted from the censored movie but Pande and Sivan fought hard to keep the names of Tendulkar and Dhoni. Thackeray's has been kept mute but they could not avoid the other major cuts.

Producer Sangeeth Sivan was totally disappointed by the cuts especially for deleting the words like 'Marathi' and 'Bhhaiya'. The producer thinks that the film has now lost its original essence. He said that the privileged ones usually escape every major controversial scene, which is much more serious than his film. Sivan said that if it would have been a commercial movie, he would have never objected but a realistic movie like this one gets affected with this kind of verbal cuts.

Alpana Sharma, the Regional Officer of the Censor Board was quoted saying that some famous names in the movie were mentioned in a derogatory manner so they have made the cuts.
