A very Happy Birthday Liam Neeson

The Irish actor Liam John Neeson, turns 60 today. The actor who has been nominated for an Oscar, BAFTA and three  Golden Globe Awards has walked down the road of success throughout his career.

Born in Ballymena, North Ireland, Liam is the third son of four siblings and was raised as a Roman Catholic. At the age of 9 he began boxing classes and later he became the Ulster amateur senior boxing champion. The first time he stepped on stage was at the age of 11 only because the girl he was attracted too was also starring in the play. After that there was no stepping back and he took part in all the school productions for the following years.

His interest in acting and the decision to become an actor was inspired by the Minister Ian Paisley. Neeson was enrolled as a physics and science undergraduate student at Queen's University, Belfast before leaving to work for the Guinness Brewery. During his time at the University he discovered a talent in football and played only one game as a substitute against Shamrock Rovers.

Liam Neeson has starred in many notable films like 'Schindler's List', 'Darkman', 'Taken', 'Star Wars', 'Kinsey', 'Batman Begins' and not to forget, he played the voice of Aslan in all of 'The Chronicles Of Narnia' film series. He was ranked at No. 69 on Empires Magazine's 100 greatest movie stars of all time in 1997.

Neeson was appointed as Officer of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II in her 1999 New Year Honours. The American Ireland Fund has also honoured Neeson with their Performing Arts Award for the great distinction he has brought to Ireland.

Neeson was married to the actress Natasha Richardon and have two sons, Michael and Daniel. His wife later passed away due to a severe head injury in a skiing accident.

Though Liam has worked in a few films by notable ones, he is still a character of respect to all.
