Adam Levine: TV is intense

14th April 2012

Adam Levine wasn't "expecting the intensity" of his TV fame.

The Maroon 5 frontman is a judge and mentor on US show The Voice alongside Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton. Adam is still getting used to his newfound fame.

"This has been very intense. I wasn't really expecting it. I was very used to what had been happening with me and the band for many years, so it takes some adjustment and I'm getting used to it," he told the UK edition of OK! magazine.

"Things like being surrounded by people asking questions is a little bit new for me, but that's fine. It doesn't really bother me very much and I stay relatively private for most of the time, so it's all good."

The 33-year-old singer is getting used to guiding contestants on the hit TV talent show. Adam thinks honesty is the best policy when it comes to mentoring.

"I'm not going to be dishonest and say you were great if you weren't. I've been less than great before," he admitted.

"I've had sub-par performances in my own career, so I can identify with someone not being as good as they can be. Someone being consistently awful, that's a whole other thing.

"That's not something that we're really dealing with, though, because I think everybody who's on the show can sing."
