(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Alanis Morissette is expecting a baby boy, it has been revealed.

The 36-year-old singer is pregnant with her first child with her husband, rapper MC Souleye, and a representative for the happy couple has now confirmed the sex of their new addition to US Magazine.

Alanis is around eight months pregnant and enjoyed a baby shower with her close friends and family last month. The event sparked speculation she was expecting a son, after a guest arrived at the shower carrying an Its A Boy gift.

During the party, Alanis and her friends had matching henna patterns drawn onto their arms and hands with the singer even having decorative swirls added to her baby bump. She later posted a photograph of her body art work on her Twitter account.

Alanis began dating Souleye - real name in Mario Treadway in October 2009. They surprised many when they married in May as their engagement had been a secret.

The couple invited just a handful of close friends and family to the nuptials, and have remained tight-lipped about the details of the ceremony.

Alanis is currently busy writing a new book that she has described as part psychology, part philosophy, part spirituality, but has denied it is a memoir. (C) Cover Media
