Alexa Chung: Books inspired my style

29th December 2010

(Cover) - EN Star Style - Alexa Chung says her style is influenced by books she read as a child.

The gorgeous British television presenter is regularly cited as a fashion icon by magazines such as Vogue and Harpers Bazaar, and is famous for her kooky schoolgirl look.

Alexa admits the style stems for being a bookworm when she was growing up. The celebrity always had her nose in a book by coveted childrens author Enid Blyton, and admits the writers Malory Towers series inspired her collection for US fashion retailer Madewell.

The line is obviously an extension of my own style and the things I like, books I read as a child like Enid Blyton, Malory Towers, that kind of schoolgirl vibe, she revealed.

The brunette beauty concedes that she has been influenced by edgier domains too though, because she loves the rock and roll lifestyle. Alexa is dating Alex Turner, frontman of British rock band Arctic Monkeys, and says some of the items in the Madewell range reflect the groupie way of life.

Its got elements of the groupie lifestyle to it. Id say velvet hotpants wouldnt look amiss by the side of the stage, she laughed. (C) Cover Media
