(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Alexander Skarsgrd considers his father to be a "pretty cool cat."
The 35-year-old actor plays character Michael in science fiction drama Melancholia opposite Kirsten Dunst. Alexander's father Stellan Skarsgrd has a role in the film too, playing Jack, Kirsten's character's manipulative and controlling boss.
Alexander thoroughly enjoyed working with his father on the feature.
"He's pretty rad. He's a cool cat," Alexander gushed to MTV News in an interview with co-star Kirsten. "It was awesome. We've never worked together before. He's one of my best friends. I love hanging out with him. Being able to hang out for two months - we shot in [our home country of] Sweden, and I thought it was great that he wasn't my dad."
Alexander likes his real dad immensely, but is not so much a fan of his character in this film.
"He's such a douche bag in the movie," Alexander said. "What I thought was interesting about [my character] Michael was that he'd pick this guy [my dad's persona Jack] as his best man at his wedding. This is not his best friend. It's his wife's boss, and he does it just to kind of help his wife in his career. It says a lot about Michael."
Leading lady Kirsten Dunst was touched by Alexander's warm relationship with his father.
"They're really cute together as father and son," Kirsten said. "They're like bros."
Melancholia debuts in American theatres this weekend. (C) Cover Media
