The blockbuster film 'Student of the Year', turned out to be the perfect launch pad for Alia Bhatt in Bollywood, and South actor Dhanush's Bollywood debut 'Raanjhanaa' has been receiving rave reviews by the critics.

The latest news in tinsel town was that the National Award winning cinematographer and director of South blockbusters K. V. Anand had roped in Alia to play the lead opposite Dhanush in his next. Now, based on insiders, looks like it was Alia, who turned down the project citing reasons of prior commitments and unavailability of dates.

The director denied the rumors claiming that he never signed Alia for the project, although, he did approach the actress to narrate the story. Anand shared that he is still working on the cast and crew, and nothing had been finalized at this point.

Looks like Alia turning down 'Raanjhanaa' Dhanush did come as a double whammy for director Anand, who is now rambling with giving reasons for Alia backing out and at the same time claiming that the actress was never signed for the role in the first place.
