American Idol: A Brand New Format!

10th December 2010

December 10, 2010 (Sampurn Wire):American Idol is one show that keeps on re-inventing itself. Latest reports reveal that now the contestants will be allowed to vent their feelings during the show on Twitter. Also after the Hollywood Week, the contestants will be experiencing a Vegas Week during which the judges will choose the top 12 from a total of 60. This latest report of a change in format follows earlier announcements about new judges, and other changes. For instance the contestants will now be confined in the same house during the competition and also the comments are likely to be much less scathing than it was when Simon Cowell was a judge on the show. The singers, according to reports, will now have background dancers dancing to their songs.

Fox Network has confirmed that the shows performance night will now stretch to one and a half hours. The episode declaring the results will now be a half an hour show like it was during the first couple of seasons. Lately many celebrity performances, infomercials about cars and stars promoting their tours, filled up the hour of the results show but surely the half an hour format will work better. The host of changes being made in the format to counter the low ratings, expected to be caused by Cowells absence, has left many viewers exasperated enough to jokingly speculate on other changes which might be incorporated in the format. Some have even suggested that the contestants might arrive on bikes, and Harry Potter could be a mentor and so on.
