26th July 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Amy Winehouse's funeral was held in the UK this afternoon.

The talented 27-year-old British singer died at her home in London on Saturday, and a post-mortem took place yesterday to allow her family to continue with their arrangements. In keeping with the Jewish faith, Amy's body was released to her parents Mitch and Janis Winehouse so the funeral could take place as soon as possible after her death.

The private service for the star's closest family and friends happened at the Edgwarebury Cemetery in North London today. A line of cars, many with tinted windows, were seen arriving at the leafy cemetery.

Amy's close friend Kelly Osbourne attended dressed in black and wearing dark sunglasses. She was holding a bouquet of white roses and paid tribute to the late singer by wearing her blonde hair in a beehive.

Mark Ronson who produced tracks for Amy's Back to Black album and singer Remi Nicole were also present, while fans lined the road leading up to the cemetery. It's thought Ronnie Wood also attended.

Amy's ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil was not present, after reportedly being denied release from prison to attend the ceremony.

Amy is expected to be cremated later today and some of her ashes scattered with those of her beloved late grandmother Cynthia. The cremation will be followed by another private service for her loved ones.

Kelly's mother Sharon Osbourne has revealed friends and family have been gathering at the Winehouse family home for shiva' a Jewish mourning period which lasts for seven days.

Amy was found dead in her bedroom on Saturday. A post-mortem failed to determine the cause of death and police must now wait several weeks for the toxicology results to come through. An inquest into her death was opened yesterday and adjourned until October 26.

The star's family reportedly believes she died of a heart attack or a seizure. (C) Cover Media
