(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Andrew Garfield is nursing a broken heart after reportedly splitting from his girlfriend of three years.

The star of the forthcoming The Amazing Spider-Man had been dating actress Shannon Woodward since 2008. It has been claimed they parted ways because of Andrew's hectic workload.

An insider has told US Weekly that Andrew "literally never saw" Shannon during filming of the superhero movie, which sees him replacing Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man.

The news will have come as something of a surprise to fans of the pair as they have been pictured together on several occasions recently, including at the Academy Awards.

"[Shannon is] telling people they're on a break... (but) they haven't spoken to each other in weeks," added the insider.

Shannon, 26, is best known for her roles in US TV shows The Riches and Raising Hope. Andrew won rave reviews for his performance in last year's The Social Network, and is seen as one of Hollywood's rising stars.

The Amazing Spider-Man, which is directed by the appropriately named Marc Webb, will be released in 2012. (C) Cover Media
