Angelina Jolie to direct war romance

25th August 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Angelina Jolie has confirmed she will make her directorial debut in a new film about the Bosnian war.

The 35-year-old actress has been linked to the project for several days, with most reports predicting she would star in the as-yet-untitled romantic drama set during the 1992 to 1995 Bosnian conflict. British film company GK Films has now confirmed Angelina will write, direct and produce the movie, but not act in it.

Instead, the cast will be made up of unknown actors of "various ethnicities of the former Yugoslavia".

A start date for the project has not been set.

Angelina, who is a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, has also issued a statement about the movie. She says it is a romance, not a political message, and she is looking forward to starting work on it.

"I would like to involve as many local people as possible and learn as much as I can,” Angelina said. β€œIt is a love story, not a political statement.”

Angelina and her two-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox travelled to Sarajevo, Bosnia, over the weekend to meet with leaders to discuss the plight of war refugees.

Angelina raises a total of six children with her partner Brad Pitt. (C) Cover Media
