Veteran actor Anupam Kher appointed as the brand ambassador of UN 'He for She' campaign. The campaign is all about spreading a message of gender equality.

Elated with pride he tweeted, "Proud to share that @UN_Women honored me by making me Champion of Gender Equality and was pinned for @HeforShe at @UN."

Addressing the audience the their he said, "I come from a family that was very poor, but I was taught by my grandparents that men and women are equal. Domestic violence comes from a deep sentiment of superiority by men. Change for gender equality has to start at home, in the family. I pledge to respond to each of my followers who sign up to #HeForShe."

Besides this he also invited for Robert De Niro's birthday dinner. He said, "I was honoured to be part of the celebration. I really admire Mr Robert De Niro."
