(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Avril Lavigne has described the magical trip she made to Sweden to work on her latest album.

The 26-year-old Canadian singer is currently promoting her fourth studio album, Goodbye Lullaby, which has received high praise from critics for its edgy pop/punk sounds.

Avril took her time to make sure the album was exactly right, and even ventured to Sweden to work with acclaimed pop producer Max Martin.

The pair formed a close bond, and Avril appreciated the way Max understood her musical style.

"We connected and had a really great time. And it was really magic my first trip there. He's sweet, gushed the songstress.

Avril found working on music in Europe helped her creative juices flow, and improved her song writing abilities. She cites Max as a major source of inspiration too.

It switched it up for me. It was a new creative space, a new relationship, and we got a lot done. He's very talented, she beamed in an interview with MTV.

Max has collaborated with some of the worlds biggest stars in the past, including Britney Spears and Katy Perry. Avril especially admires the producers sensitivity, which she believes lent itself well to Goodbye Lullaby.

"He said some really kind things that really meant a lot to me," added the singer. "He worked with so many people and he's an artist, he's very sensitive. We wrote a couple really special songs together." (C) Cover Media
