Boy and Toy

There's nothing wrong with Naga Chaitanya trying his hands at an action role. But the timing is wrong. For, watching the young actor performing stunts and bashing up baddies is like watching a child doing tough jobs in a huge factory. When you make up your mind to digest this and get ready to enjoy the movie, there come all hurdles in the form of a jerky screenplay, clichéd scenes, stretching-for-effect comedy sequences and a lot of other issues. If at all 'Bejawada' can be appreciated for something, it is for Naga Chaitanya's hard work and Ram Gopal Varma's guts for coming forward to produce such a venture. And not to forget the actress, Amala Paul.

Kaali Prasad (Prabhu) and Shankar (Abhimanyu Singh) are brothers by birth and gangsters by profession. The latter wants to take the control of 'Bejawada' from the former and hence, bumps him off. In the bloody game, not just Kaali Prasad is killed, but also Vijayakrishna (Mukul Dev), his closest aide. Coming to know of this, Shiva Krishna (Naga Chaitanya), younger brother of Vijayakrishna, steps in to set the record straight.

Naga Chaitanya has really tried to give his best, but his chocolate boy looks and a jerky script fail to add value to his performance. Amala Paul is a welcome debut to Tollywood. Brahmanandam is there, but hardly evokes laughter. Abhimanya Singh pays the perfect baddie and suits the role to ‘T’. Prabhu and Mukul Dev are decent. Music and cinematography departments lend a helping hand to director Vivek Krishna. Had the in-charges of these two trades failed in their duties, 'Bejawada' would have been a much more horrifying experience.

Life always gives another chance. Hope Naga Chaitanya and Vivek Krishna utilize it well.
