After facing a lot of controversy and nationwide protests Padmavati is being reviewed officially by some of the qualified Historians.The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has formed a six-member panel including professional historians, experts and members of the former royal family who will be reviewing this period drama closely.

The panel will examine the film as it is still awaited to get a yes from the censor board for release in theatres. Sources of the ministry of information and broadcasting suggest that the royal family of Mewar had denied being a part of this panel and instead sought a formally written clarification on the points raised by him earlier.

The members of the panel include two Rajasthan-based professors, R S Khangarot, principal of the Agrawal College in Jaipur, and B L Gupta, a retired Rajasthan University professor who are invited by the Central Board of Film Certification as a part of the panel to analyze Sanjay Leela Bhansali's un-released period drama 'Padmavati'.

Khangarot received a call from CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi to review the film that is waiting to get the censor certificate. He said, "Joshi sought my opinion on the film as a part of a panel of historians. I told him that I can be available for the review next week." He further added saying, ''It was a verbal invitation and he has received no written communication. For me, this is not an issue between Bhansali and the Rajput community or between Bhansali and Karni Sena. I see it as an issue between the filmmaker and history and I will be reviewing the film in this light.".

Several ministers of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh have criticized the film and supported the ban on the movie as some of the objectionable scenes are not yet removed.
