Ben Stiller discusses Tropic spin-off

28th October 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ben Stiller says the upcoming Les Grossman movie will have a really strong hip-hop element.

Les has become a cult character following Tom Cruises portrayal of him in 2008 movie Tropic Thunder. For the part of the foul-mouthed movie executive, Tom had to wear a fat suit, bald cap and giant prosthetic hands. A key scene saw Les dancing to Flo Ridas track Low, with Tom reprising the character and his hip-hop moves at the MTV Movie Awards earlier this year.

Les was such a hit he is now getting his own movie, and Ben who directed, wrote and starred in Tropic Thunder has discussed how the script is coming along.

Les Grossman is notoriously difficult to negotiate with, so we're right now negotiating with him because he wants to play himself in the film. And he's kind of a bully, and he's very argumentative, and he's a little bit abusive. I want to try to get Tom Cruise to play him. So if I can get Tom Cruise, who's interested to play him, if Les will agree not to play himself, then it looks like it could be coming together. A script is being written now, he told MTV News.

There'll probably be a few from Tropic Thunder in it, actually, 'cause he's really instrumental in all of their careers. He's really the puppet master. And there's going to be a really strong hip-hop element to the movie, as you might guess.

Ben added the movie will be a biopic, which he is excited about as Les has had such a thrilling life. He also told fans to expect a slew of celebrity cameos, as Les has propelled so many Hollywood stars to prominence. (C) Cover Media
