Billie Joe Armstrong rehab won't affect Voice stint

24th September 2012

Billie Joe Armstrong will appear on The Voice US, despite heading to rehab over the weekend.

The Green Day frontman made headlines on Friday after launching into a rant during a performance at the iHeartRadio festival after being told that the band needed to wrap up their set.

Billie Joe - who shouted, "I'm not f**king Justin Bieber, you motherf**kers!" - announced he will undergo treatment for substance abuse on Sunday.

However, NBC have confirmed that Billie Joe will still appear on The Voice as scheduled.

"We're taped and all set," an NBC representative said about Billie Joe's mentor stint on the hit TV talent show later this season, according to Deadline.

Billie Joe will star alongside judge Christina Aguilera to help her acts progress in the competition.

Green Day broke the news of Billie Joe's rehab stint on their Facebook page on Sunday.

"Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse. We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologise to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas," it read.

"We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances."

Earlier this month, the veteran rock band was forced to cancel a concert in Italy after Billie Joe was hospitalised with "severe dehydration".

However, he managed to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards a few days later.
