The Best is finally here...
Having watched all the three earlier versions of this film, in Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi, we can say the Telugu 'Bodyguard' is the best of all, since some flaws and lagging moments in the earlier versions have been neatly worked out.
But let us put it straight, it is no regular Telugu film with the hero mouthing punch lines and bashing goons on a spree from frame one.
Bodyguard starring Venkatesh and Trisha in lead roles is a sedate and a soft film however presented best by director Gopichand Malineni, keeping Venkatesh's popular image in the mind. Trisha joins hands with Venkatesh for the third time (after Aadavari Maataluku Ardhale Verule and Namo Venkatesa) and there chemistry is good.
Venkatadri (Venkatesh) is a carefree and talented youth, who lives in a small village. He saves Varadarajulu (Prakash Raj), a big wig in the village, from the hands of his enemies. As there is a threat to Varadarajulu’s daughter Keerthi (Trisha), he asks Venkatadri to protect her by providing security cover 24x7. Even as our hero busy with the job, Keerthi falls for his good heart and charm. But things are not the same when Varadarajulu comes to know about this.
What comes as a relief is Bodyguard is no nonsense masala movie. It is loaded with some interesting twists and turns predominantly hilarious, and it has commercial elements presented in a neat package.
Well it is more of Venkatesh in Chinthakaylu Ravi meeting Venkatesh in Aadavari Maataluku Ardhale Verule. He is cool, calm and collective at many places. With no lengthy dialogues boasting about himself, the movie is passable for Venkatesh. He ensures his good screen presence. Trisha is not far behind. She is not just a glam doll, but a performing actress. She proves that again here. Prakash Raj lends solidity to the script with his graceful show. Others in the cast are okay.
Music is good, while the cinematography is cool and neat.
On the whole Bodyguard passes the muster for the team has tried something different from the regular masala stuff.
