'Bombay Velvet' to release in May 2015

22nd August 2014

Critically acclaimed filmmaker, Anurag Kashyap's highly anticipated film 'Bombay Velvet' has been postponed by six months.

Starring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in the lead, the film which is set in the era of 1950s was first slated to release in December on the eve of Christmas.

But when Aamir Khan starrer 'PK' was announced to release on the same day, the makers decided to pre-pone it by a month and announced that they will release it in November.

But now neither of the dates will see the release of 'Bombay Velvet' as the VFX in the film is taking a lot of time.

Anurag confirmed that the special effects procedure is taking more than the anticipated time. "We have just realised that it will take us a long time to finish the VFX which we had not anticipated. I'm recreating a bygone era but I had not imagined that it needs so much of post-production. I'm finally learning what it takes to make a big film," he said.

The film has Ranbir playing a street fighter who goes on to become the manager of a jazz club. He too was eagerly waiting for the release but explains why the shift in release was in favour of the film.

"We are very proud of Anurag's vision of Bombay Velvet and want to put the best product out. The film's VFX is taking time and hence we have decided to move to May. We don't want to do a hasty job," said Ranbir.

Now that 'Bombay Velvet' has steered clear out of the way, Aamir Khan will once again take over the Christmas spot.
